Theory - A2

Make sure you know the basics of So and Such by doing these materials: link Don’t worry there are clips from The Lord of the Rings as well 🧙🏼‍♂️

Theory - B1

Why do we use them?

We use ‘so’ and ‘such’ to add emphasis and make a sentence sound stronger. ‘So’ and ‘such’ have a similar meaning to ‘very’. In the sentence ‘Frodo is so brave’, the adverb ‘so’ makes the adjective ‘brave’ sounds stronger.

What are adverbs? Adverbs give us information about a verb, an adjective, or another adverb. They often have the form of an adjective + -ly. Look at those examples: She can run quickly. → the adverb ‘quickly’ gives us more information about the verb ‘run’ They were terribly rude. → the adverb ‘terribly’ gives us more information about the adjective ‘rude’ When he sleeps, he snores ridiculously loudly. → the adverb ‘ridiculously’ gives us more information about the adverb ‘loudly’

😶 Pssst! Do you want to learn more about ‘few’, ‘a few’, ‘little’ and ‘a little’? I’ve made some materials that will help you use those words confidently! Check them out here: link
